Amazing Insights (Due to be published September 25, 2021)
Over the last six months, I have now interviewed almost 60 world-leading experts on anxiety and depression, and more than 210
scientists whose work is focused on other conditions. One of the most exciting things that I am starting to piece together from all this:
There is a growing plethora of research that points toward a linkage between our diet, the health of our microbiomes (i.e. the bacteria
that live in our gut), and our propensity to anxiety and depression.
A lot of psychologists already know this in their gut, if you'll excuse the pun. Jordan Peterson, for example, famously said that many of
the young men who come to him for help with anxiety — he is a practicing psychologist, remember — turned their lives around by
making a small handful of fundamental changes to their diet. Could this be the reason why?
If this link between diet, microbiome, and anxiety and depression is proven and better understood, it could be a game-changer. It
could open the door to an entire new universe of more effective treatments for these conditions.
And that's why I'm writing to you.
You're reading this because you expressed interest in the CODEX for Anxiety and Depression project, and wanted to learn how you
can join the fight. The fight against anxiety and depression — and all the misery it creates in our families and communities, while
politicians stand around with their hands in their pockets and insult us with platitudes and empty promises.
This new line of research is our most promising battleground. Right now, there is a goldmine of research. But it's all fragmented.
Spread around dozens of different medical journals, and carried out by scientists who live on opposite sides of the world or, for
various reasons to do with the politics of academia, are not able to collaborate with each other.
We urgently need to hire our own researcher.
Someone who can dive into all these journals, pull the research and the data together, and make sense of it in a way that only a
trained scientist can. I've done the math. It's going to cost $5,000 to hire one full-time researcher (or two part-time researchers) for two
months. Which should be enough to get started.
Can you help?
A gift of $100, $50, even as little as $20 can make a difference. If everyone who reads this email — if every person who said they
wanted to join the fight against anxiety and depression — donated just $50, we'd pull this off.
This is a special fundraising campaign.
NONE of the money you donate will be used for administration, fundraising, or other overheads. Every dime will go to hiring that
researcher, to pulling together this new knowledge and making it a part of the CODEX.
As a donor, you will obviously get a lifetime license to CODEX.
So, you or a loved one will directly benefit from this work.
Lots of folks say they want to see more support, more resources for folks who suffer from anxiety and depression. However, when
push comes to shove, most are not willing to put their money where their mouth is.
If you want to be a part of the fight, this is your moment. We can do this! We can get our own full-time researcher working on this, and
finally bring this exciting research together. We can make a difference. Can you give $100? $50? $20?

We are going to hire one or two Ph.D. students.
They are extremely well versed in the scientific method. They already have their "head in the game" when it comes to seeking out and
pouring through papers. And, crucially, their minds are not yet biased by past employers.
We will pay them to work 160 hours per month.
So, in all likelihood, this workload will be shared between two different researchers — who will both report to me personally.
They will begin by searching through PubMed and other databases of papers and scientific research, using a cluster of keywords that
are associated with the link between diet, the microbiome, and anxiety and depression.
And they will read through the abstract and make a careful note of EVERY paper that looks like it could be worthy of further study. The
most relevant papers will then be purchased (if there is a paywall) and read in full.
In their written report to me, the researchers will tell me:
And this is just for starters. As these reports pile up and their knowledge of the link between diet, the microbiome, and
anxiety/depression accumulates, they will start to get it all down as a mindmap diagram that relates the different papers and their
insights onto a knowledge tree, so we can see how it all fits together. They will also check to see if there are any clinical trials in
progress right now, related to or based on some of the findings of these papers.
As you can see, this is a serious research effort.
Our goal is to gather all the world's known scientific knowledge on this specific line of research, bring it all together in one place, and
figure out what it all means. Something incredible could come from this one effort alone.
And, remember — this is just ONE part of the CODEX.
The complete CODEX will contain information on every known possible treatment option. And, as a donor, you get full lifetime access
to it. So, if you've not yet made a contribution to this appeal, please click the button below and give what you can.
Even $50 can make a difference.
